"New Silulumanzi Tariffs for 2009/2010 Approved"
Mbombela Local Municipality have approved Silulumanzi proposed tariff increase for 2009/2010 financial year. The general increase of 10.99% will apply accross the board effective 1 July 2009.
The proposed increased by Silulumanzi was subjected to strict audit and scrutiny by Mbombela and its financial advisor KPMG. The increase was calculated based on actual historical costs and projected costs of Silulumanzi to undertake its obligations of providing water and sanitation services as mandated by Mbombela.
Although this year increase seems to be higher than the previous increases, it is still comparable with increases affected by other municipalities in South Africa, such as Johannesburg (11% water and 10% sewer), Tshwane/Prtoria (13% water and sewer), Ekurhuleni (9.3% water and 15.8% sewer), Cape Town (10% water and sewer), Durban (10% water and sewer).
Details of 2009/2010 Silulumanzi tariffs as promulgated by Mbombela Local Municipality can be seen in various public notice boards of the MLM.
In general, the unit price of water/sewer paid by Silulumanzi's customers is still the cheapest in the country.
